Re-thinking Church Part 1

(2 by 2 paradigm- Evangelism)

If we were to mobilize communities of 2s or 3s, 2 or 3 single people, 2 or 3 couples, 2 or 3 families to infect this immediate culture, I believe we would see great return. If these same small communities joined other communities cross-generationally, they could grow through service sectors of our church, greeting, ushering, and nursery, whatever.

If 2 or 3 families infected a baseball team in a local city league, what type of impact could they have. They could encourage other believes, share with non-believers, model Christ, demonstrate a family that works and create a community among the 2 or 3 that is focused on a mission.

If 2 or 3 singles infected a fraternity/sorority at their local college, they could serve the down trodden in their most vulnerable times in life. They can be there as student search and experiment in life always showing what Christ offers. What an opportunity to love and not judge and see God work.

If 2 or 3 couples infected a ball room dance club and had opportunities to hang out, minister the word, and model a beautiful marriage. People would be challenged to see marriage work. This is revolutionary to a world that no longer respects the institution of marriage. Great opportunities lie in that.

We would live out the great commission. We would grow closer in fellowship as we engage in ministry. I believe this can be a great paradigm for the responsibilities of the church.

Engaging with the culture instead of isolating yourself from it. Not building your own (sub-) culture, but transforming the one you're already in. It's a very different perspective, and not everyone will want to join you in it.
